HOW IT WORKS
The Oculus ID System uses image capturing and processing technology to evaluate the pupil of the eye’s response to detect substance abuse, physiological defects as fatigue.
When a subject is under the influence of alcohol or narcotics, the pupil’s ability to react to light is affected.
The rate of change, pupil dilation/constriction provides a set of data points which can be compared against predefined benchmarks to ascertain the likelihood of impairment
Social impact
Positive social impact is at the heart of this innovation. Substance abuse is a growing problem with research showing that rates of substance abuse are increasing globally and are crippling many communities.
In the workplace, providing an additional screening process through the OculusID products will help to improve overall employee safety, particularly in work environments where safety standards need to be optimized.
